ITHACA COMMUNITY GARDENS GARDENER AGREEMENT

Gardeners make this agreement with us online now, when they register for a plot.

As a Community Gardener, I agree to the following:

  1. I will not hold Ithaca Community Gardens, Inc. or the City of Ithaca liable for any injury that may occur to me or to anyone I invite to the Community Gardens site.
  2. My membership and plot use period begins with plot assignment or renewal each year, and ends (unless renewed) at the following year’s spring renewal. I will contribute at least 8 service hours this season, either at  Gardens workdays or as otherwise arranged, or pay a no-work fee of $10 per hour not worked, by December 1. Gardeners with special circumstances can apply to the Registration Team at ICG.Reg.Asst@gmail.com for a partial or full service hours waiver. Service credit can be received for attendance at one board meeting (usually 1.5 hours) if you report it via our website homepage.
  3. I will read all emails from the Gardens, sent either directly to me, or via the group email list on Riseup.net, and respond in a timely manner if a response is requested.
  4. I will maintain the paths around my plot at all times and tend my plot on a regular basis to keep it neat and free of weeds and other debris, with a 6″ border on all sides free of weeds, rocks, fencing and plants.
  5. Tools belonging to the Gardens are marked “Community Gardens” or “ICG” and they’re all we’ve got. I will never remove them from the Gardens site. After using them, I will clean and return them to the proper tool shed and lock the shed.
  6. I will follow the water conservation guidelines provided at registration & orientation.
  7. I will leave the plot number stake and the corner stakes that mark the plot boundaries in place, and notify the Registration Team at ICG.Reg.Asst@gmail.com if any of them are missing.
  8. I will keep stakes, trellises, raised beds at least 6 inches from perimeter of my plot. No plot perimeter fences are allowed.
  9. I will clean my plot at the end of the season (dead plant matter into compost bin, remove all trash) and store my own stakes neatly in my plot. Garlic, perennials, and winter crops can remain with any necessary supports. Please leave corner boundary stakes and plot number stake alone. I will remove my own stakes, and any other materials if I am not returning next season.
  10. I will not use chemical, non-organic herbicides, pesticides, and fertilizers, or chemically-treated wood. Don’t use plastic sheeting as mulch; canvas tarps are best and plastic tarps must be in good condition to use temporarily.
  11. I will comply with these and other established Community Gardens rules and policies, including those listed in the Gardens Rules and Policies. I understand that failure to comply may result in the loss of my gardening plot.
